Opera North – Print Advertisements

Marketing the Opera to an a young student audience was no easy task. With a short attention span, and residing on marketing channels not typically used by Opera advertisements, we were tasked with creating lively print advertisements to sell Opera North. We found from market and audience research that one of the biggest issues for this audience is a simple ignorance of the existence of Opera as a choice for evening entertainment, and a common misconception that contemporary Opera is boring. We addressed these issues in our campaign by comparing Opera to cinema or soap operas in our text posters, and by tempting the audience with exciting photography in the other set.
